A Design Dream: New York Market

This week I traveled to New York City to be a part of the textile industry’s New York Market—the networking event you’d actually want to attend.

One of my favorite parts about being an entrepreneur is getting the opportunity to travel and meet the other makers, movers and shakers in the same industry as me from all over the globe! The worst part? Leaving my pups, Jaxx and Oliver! If only they understood how to use Facetime.

While most of the world had their eyes on Fashion Week, the New York Market was also going down in the Big Apple. It’s the World’s Fair of design for buyers, brands and designers. And yes, you guessed it: I was there, with Instagram photos to share!

I still can’t believe that’s my name on display. Pinch me!

Meeting other designers and seeing the trends surfacing this coming year in the design world is so fun, and what better place to get inspired than the greatest city in the world? There’s something about the architecture, incredible food, and crisp fall air that left me feeling fired up and re-energized. But, I have to admit: seeing my own visions come to life alongside brands and designers who I’ve admired long before I became one myself was the best part. Spoiler alert: I’m about to get cheesy!

It was a lot of work to make sure everything was perfect for my display, but totally worth it.

As a little girl in Oregon, if you told me my name would be on display in New York City next to my own line of products, I’m not sure I would have believed you. Not because I didn’t dream of it– trust me, this is a big dream come true! But you really can’t believe it until you see it.

And while NYC truly is a city of dreams, there’s no place quite like home. So after a crazy week of meeting, greeting, wining and dining, (and even a few slices of pizza at midnight), crawling back into my own bed is exactly what I needed. My head is buzzing with inspiration and ideas, and I can’t wait to get to work so I can share them with you!

Looks like Jaxx and Oliver felt a little too comfortable at home without me.

Comment below: what is one thing you can’t leave New York City without doing? I’d love to have a list of things to try for my next visit!
